TMO User Management Profile View

The self-service view serves as a central hub where users, including Texas Mutual employees, TMO users, injured employees, policyholders, and agencies, can manage their profiles, security settings, and relationships

The Objective

Our goal was to unify and streamline multiple pages into a singular modular, user-friendly interface while ensuring security and ease of use.

📖

Background

The previous design scattered security settings, profile information, and relationship management across different areas, creating a fragmented experience for users.

Goals for Self- Service
View

01

Unify User Management

Consolidate profile details, security settings, and relationship management into a single, intuitive hub for easier access.

02

Improve Scalability

Design a flexible system that accommodates users with multiple relationships without added complexity.

03

Security

Implement authentication safeguards while maintaining a seamless user experience.

04

Optimize Usability

Establish a clear information hierarchy while enhancing the visual design for a more intuitive and modern user experience.

🤝🏼

Collaboration

The success of the self-service profile redesign relied on close collaboration between the UX research and development teams to balance user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.

UX Research

The UX Research team identified key user pain points and navigation struggles. Through user testing and insights, the research team validated design decisions along the way to ensure the final solution addressed real needs and aligned with business objectives.

Dev Team

Before diving into design, we collaborated with developers to identify technical limitations, understand how user data was stored and retrieved, and discuss security protocols. This ensured that the solution would be technically feasible without compromising usability.

🛠️

The Design

We needed to rethink the structure from the ground up.
The UX team introduced a consistent UI, modular structure, and thoughtful information hierarchy, to ensure that users could navigate their profiles effortlessly.

Color coded user type for quick identification.

User or company name for clarity.

Account identifier:

-Policy number for Policyholders

-Agency code for Agencies

-Email for Users

Expandable details dropdown for additional information.

Last login date and time visible to administrators for oversight.

Tab-Based Navigation

Consolidates all relevant profile information into a single interface providing a scalable  solution.

We needed a scalable solution that would not only improve the current experience but also accommodate future enhancements seamlessly.

❋ How it works:

-Users viewing their own profile see a single “Manage Account” tab.

-Admins/ISCs see additional tabs relevant to their oversight duties.

Modular Design for Key Features

The body of the page consists of modular sections, each displayed to specific users dedicated to a specific function:

1️⃣ Profile Details

❋ Displays user name, role, and contact info.

❋ Features an edit button that opens a full-page modal while keeping the header card visible for context.

❋ When users can save changes or cancel, with a confirmation banner appearing upon successful updates.

2️⃣  Relationship Management

❋ This feature was designed for multi-account users.

❋ If a user has multiple relationships, they see a dropdown selector listing their associated companies.

If they have only one relationship, this section is hidden for simplicity.

3️⃣  Security Settings

❋ Due to security concerns, these settings are nested within links that expand when accessed.

❋ Users must verify their identity before making changes.

❋ Password update experience improved displaying real-time validation as users type.

🏆

The Results

The Self-Service profile view redesign transformed a fragmented experience into an intuitive, secure, and scalable account management hub.

Final Product

By introducing a consistent UI, modular structure, and thoughtful information hierarchy, we ensured that users could navigate their profiles effortlessly while maintaining security best practices.

This project exemplifies the power of UX research, iterative design, and cross-team collaboration in solving complex usability challenges.
